Thresher was one of six footballing brothers who all played locally for Chard Town in Somerset, before being signed for City by Pat Beasley in January 1954.
A left-back by trade, it took until December 1954 to make his debut, but he retained his place ahead of Jack Bailey and Norman Jackson en route to the 1954/55 Third Division (South) title.
For the next ten seasons Thresher never played less than 35 games in a season for the club.
He remains 12th on the all-time appearance list, after departing the club in 1965 at the conclusion of an 11-year stay.
After football Mike Thresher worked in the family building firm until his wife's death in February 1995 when he was living in Langport.
He sadly passed away in 1999 in Bristol.
