Brought in from Leeds United in a player-exchange deal involving Carl Shutt, "Super Bob" spent just three years at Ashton Gate, but he still remains a hero for supporters of a certain generation.
After years of heartache, following on from the 1982 collapse, City fans had a long sought-after goalscorer to cherish.
He netted eight times in 12 appearances at the back end of the 1988/89 season - and it was a taste of things to come.
In the following campaign he fired 34 goals (27 in the league) as City secured automatic promotion from Division Three. He was the division's top scorer and was also crowned the club's Player of the Year.
He scored 16 more times in the next season and a half, before City agreed to sell Taylor to West Bromwich Albion for £300,000.
