Andy King signed a one-year contract with City – the club he has supported since he was a boy - on July 2nd 2021.

The midfielder, who was a free agent and had been training with the squad in pre-season was awarded a 12-month contract, with an additional one-year option.

King and Manager Nigel Pearson are reunited after the manager and player worked together at Leicester City. King started out in Chelsea’s Academy system before joining Leicester City as a teenager.

He progressed through the youth ranks there before making his first-team debut in 2007. He helped Leicester win the League One, Championship and top flight titles between 2009-2016, making him the only player to win the top three divisions with the same club in the Premier League era, whilst helping the club compete in the UEFA Champions League.

King scored 62 goals in 379 appearances for the Foxes, while he also spent loan spells at Swansea City, Derby County, Rangers and Huddersfield in the last few seasons. After his release from Leicester in the summer of 2020 he joined Belgian side OH Leuven.

The midfielder represented Wales on the international stage, helping his national side reach the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2016.

He scored twice in 50 appearances for Wales.Since signing for his boyhood club King has made nine appearances, he assisted on his debut then scored in his first away game for the club against Middlesborough.
