Lee Johnson has spelt out the kind of player he will be looking to recruit to his squad this summer.
The head coach is already anticipating a “huge” summer as the club looks to build a squad of “young and hungry players” capable of competing in the upper echelons of the Sky Bet Championship.
However, Johnson is quick to play down talk of Bristol City “splashing the cash”, as he insists the club will recruit in a sustainable manner, rather than breaking the bank.
He told Bristol City Player HD: “It’s going to be a huge summer, there’s no doubt about that.
“When I say huge, I mean in terms of workload. Everybody from the analysts to the scouting network, myself to the rest of the coaching staff – we’ll all have to make sure we pull our weight this summer.
“There will be a time when we’re on holiday, but even then we’ll still have to be working!
“It’s not a case of doing it unsustainably and chucking silly money at it. We want to do it right; we want to sign young, hungry, mobile, talented footballers who can grow with us.
“If we get that recruitment right then we’ll have a good chance of being where we want to be.”
The Grand Appeal is gearing up for a bumper summer of fundraising across Bristol and the South West as it marks the 25th Anniversary of the iconic dress-down event, Wallace & Gromit’s Wrong Trousers Day.
