Bailey Wright earned his 15th cap for Australia as they were beaten by Brazil in Melbourne.
The City defender lined up against the world’s top ranked team for an international friendly as the Socceroos continue their build-up to the Confederations Cup.
Brazil ran out comfortable 3-0 winners – their ninth straight success – after breaking the deadlock just 13 seconds into the game.
Wright’s clearance was charged down and Diego Souza managed to squeeze his angled shot under goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak.
Thiago Silva and Taison added further goals in the second half, with Wright substituted on 78 minutes.
Australia are in the same group as Cameroon, Chile and Germany for the Confederations Cup in Russia, which begins next week.
With just a few days to go until Elton John plays at Ashton Gate, concert-goers are urged to take advantage of special event Shuttle Buses laid on to help get fans to and from the stadium.
