Bailey Wright’s Australia will open their Confederations Cup account against world champions Germany this afternoon at the Olimpiyskiy Stadion Fisht (4pm).
City’s central defender has featured in the Socceroos’ recent games with Saudi Arabia and Brazil, and is expected to be involved against a German side that has included just three players from the World Cup winning squad in their Confederations Cup campaign.
Australia have been drawn in Group B, alongside Germany, Chile and Cameroon.
The top two teams from the group will qualify for the semi-finals, where they will meet one of Russia, New Zealand, Portugal or Mexico.
