Wright reveals his memorable moments

Always the team player, club captain Bailey Wright says it is the squad’s ethic and attitude behind-the-scenes which he will look back on with pride, as he reflects on the 2018/19 season.

Meanwhile, it was the display at Sheffield United where Andreas Weimann scored his hat-trick in the 3-2 win which will stand out as his on-field memory.

It will likely live long in the memory for supporters too, who last month voted Weimann’s hat-trick as their Champagne Moment of the Year.

Wright said: “There have been many standout moments, a lot of them day to day, behind the scenes in terms of we have set up a professional, top-class environment to learn in.

“The lads have embraced that, the coaches and the gaffer give us everything and that helps us have the season which we have had.

“In-game highlights, of course Sheffield United away with And’s (Weimann) hat-trick was a massive one. We were flying high against a side who would get themselves promoted.

“That spurred us on, it was another kick to push on from. There were many highlights but every day we have come in, developed as a group and for me that is a highlight.”

The 2018/19 season drew to a close in City’s 1-1 draw away to Hull City on Sunday, which saw City finish 8th in the second tier, their highest league standing since 2008.
