Wright On His Whirlwind First Few Days

Bailey Wright admits his first few days at City have been like a whirlwind.

Signed on Friday from Preston North End, the Australian international was immediately handed his debut in the Emirates FA Cup tie with Fleetwood Town.

Wright lined up in a back three alongside Aden Flint and fellow new recruit Jens Hegeler, helping the team to their first clean sheet in seven games.

Afterwards he told Bristol City Player HD: “It’s all been so quick since arriving.

“I came down here and signed, then had to get to know the lads in training. It was nice to get straight out there and make my debut – a win would have been a bonus.

“We played some good football and created enough chances to win it. There are plenty of positives to take forward from here.

“I know a few of the Fleetwood boys and they have some good footballers. They always had an attacking threat and defensively put their bodies on the line.

“They certainly made it difficult to break them down. Overall I thought we did enough to win it and maybe we were a bit unlucky at times.

“The important thing was the clean sheet because if you can earn that then you give the team a great chance to win the game. On another day I think one of the chances we created would have found the net.”

Wright had no doubts about his own fitness and is now looking to develop the understanding with his new team-mates.

He added: “I’ve played most of the games this season so I’m fit and well and ready to play 90 minutes whenever called upon.

“Obviously I hadn’t had long with the lads in training and our games are new to one another at the back, but I thought we looked organised.”

City are back in action against Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship at Ashton Gate on Saturday (midday kick-off).
