Bailey Wright has joined Sunderland on loan until the end of the season.
Wright linked up with the League One Black Cats today in a move that will give him game time before Australia’s Copa America debut in June.
Chief Executive Mark Ashton praised the 27-year-old defender, who joined the Robins from Preston North End in January 2017 and has made 83 appearances.
“On behalf of everyone at Bristol City I want to thank Bailey for all he has done for this club,” said Ashton. “From the moment he arrived he has been the model professional and ambassador and we all wish him well.”
City Head Coach Lee Johnson added: “I hold Bailey Wright in the highest regard as a man, a professional and a footballer. After his injury, minutes have been hard to come by and we feel this is the right move for him and Bristol City to go and play football at a fantastic club in Sunderland.”
