Kane Wilson has joined City on a three-year contract.
The 22-year-old EFL League Two Player of the Year signs as a free agent after starring for promotion-winning champions Forest Green Rovers.
Both clubs are now discussing compensation arrangements in line with EFL Regulations for the development of Wilson during his two-year spell at the New Lawn.
The wing-back follows fellow free agents Mark Sykes and Kal Naismith in becoming the Robins’ third new recruit this summer.
Named in the League Two Team of the Season with 45 appearances, including three goals and 13 assists, Wilson came through the West Bromwich Albion Academy system and had loans at Exeter City and Tranmere Rovers before joining FGR in July 2020.
Now with 158 senior appearances, Wilson has committed to life in BS3 until 2025 and told Robins TV: “It feels amazing to sign. It’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time now and I’m over the moon to finally get it done.
“City are a forward-thinking club. Sometimes it’s easy to say you are forward-thinking and want to get into the Premier League but with the steps that City are making – the training ground, what the Gaffer has said to me, the feel of the club – it’s something I believe they really want to do.”
Pat Lam has confirmed his 36-man squad for the Bears’ first pre-season friendly of the 2022/23 season against Brive in Saint-Affrique on Friday night (7.45pm KO BST).
