✍️ Whitehouse joins City Women

Bristol City Women can confirm the signing of goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper arrives in the West Country having spent the 2020/21 season at Tottenham Hotspur and Birmingham City.

Speaking on her arrival, the keeper said: “I’m thrilled to make the move across to Bristol City and I’ve enjoyed getting stuck in to training with my new teammates over the last couple of days.

“I’m coming into the club eager to learn and develop as a goalkeeper to try and take my game to the next level, and ultimately contribute to the success of the team on the pitch.”

Whitehouse was born in Enfield but spent her childhood growing up between Tanzania and the United States of America.

She made her breakthrough in the game Stateside where she attended Columbia University in the city of New York. During the 2018 season she captained her college soccer side and kept five clean sheets throughout the campaign.

The following season would see Whitehouse line up between the sticks for Santa Clara University, where she would make 13 appearances in the NCAA competition for the Broncos, prior to a return to the UK in early 2020.

Whitehouse’s journey in English football would start just a stone’s throw from where she grew up in North London at Tottenham Hotspur, before a move to the Midlands for the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

City Women supporters can get their Season Card for the 2021/22 FA Championship season now. Adults can watch for less than £4 per game and Under-12s can catch the action for less than £1 a game at the High Performance Centre.
