Aaron Wilbraham insists the City dressing room is up for the fight to stay in the Sky Bet Championship.
Defeat at Aston Villa in midweek leaves City level on points with Blackburn Rovers, staying out of the relegation zone courtesy of goal difference alone.
Wilbraham says the squad continue to look up the table, knowing that victory over Burton Albion at Ashton Gate tomorrow (3pm) will see them leapfrog the Brewers in the table.
The City skipper told Bristol City Player HD: “It’s a massive game against Burton and everyone knows that.
“Both teams are down there fighting for their place in the division and we know our performance is important – it’s a must-win game.
“I think it’s important that everyone sticks together. We know we’ve got a great squad in the dressing room and great supporters.
“This is a great football club and it’s important in these last remaining games to fight for every point.
“The lads know what is expected of us. We need to beat Burton, but even then the job isn’t done and we need to push on.”
Boss Johnson wants a cup final mentality and a vociferous home crowd to inspire the team.
Wilbraham, meanwhile, believes the players have just as big a part to play in generating a cauldron-like atmosphere.
“The way you start a game sets the tone,” he said. “It’s something we did well in the last two games (Newcastle United and Aston Villa) and we need to replicate that tomorrow.
“It’s down to us as players to start well and help to generate the atmosphere. If we do that, we know we'll have 100% backing from the stands.”
