Wells nets hat-trick for Bermuda

Nahki Wells helped fire Bermuda to an 8-1 win over Barbados in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Prelims in Miami.

Wells scored after just 17 seconds - the fastest Gold Cup goal on record - to open the scores before back-heeling in the second inside the 14th minute.

Bermuda were 4-0 up before Barbados scored their consolation strike at the end of the first half.

Wells' side went on to grab a further three goals in a seven-minute period after the break, before Wells completed the rout with an 87th minute penalty.

The win meant Bermuda advanced to the second round of the Gold Cup prelims, where they faced Haiti the following Wednesday. Wells was again on the scoresheet but his country suffered a 4-1 defeat.
