Weimann up for August award

Andreas Weimann has been shortlisted for August’s Sky Bet Championship accolade.

The 27-year-old is in the running to land the first Player of the Month award for the 2018/19 season.

City’s summer recruit bagged himself five goals in as many league games last month, equaling his overall tally from the previous campaign.

The Austrian forward was on target in draws against Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers, before he bagged a brace at QPR and netted the winner in a 1-0 victory at Swansea City.

Weimann goes up against Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ben Alnwick, Leeds United frontman Kemar Roofe and Brentford striker Ollie Watkins.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Mikey Mumford.

All winner will be announced tomorrow (Friday).
