Weimann relishing derby atmosphere

Andreas Weimann is looking forward to getting back out under the lights when the Robins host Swansea City on Friday (August 20th, 7.45pm KO).

Fresh from scoring two goals in Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Reading, the striker is raring to go again as City look to build on their encouraging midweek display.

Weimann’s brace came after a lot of hard work to get himself back to full fitness, after his ACL injury last season but now he’s getting back to his best.

His first goal on Tuesday was a header inside the fifth minute, before he exchanged a one-two with Alex Scott and kept a cool head to add City’s third goal of the night.

“I was disappointed not to get the hat-trick in the end, it was a good save but happy to get the two goals and hopefully a few more,” he told Robins TV. Those goals fired City to their first win of the season.

He continued: “We’re going into the game with more confidence now, the fans should be looking forward to it under the lights against Swansea. It’s a derby as such, so it should be a great game.

“I think from the outside it hasn’t look like a good start but inside these walls we feel we should’ve beaten Blackpool and Forest Green so we could have had two wins already before Reading.

“To have that win is the monkey off our shoulders and hopefully going into Friday we can get another three points on the board.

“Of course in every game we want to improve, we didn’t want to concede a second goal on Tuesday and it was nervy but we saw the game out and that’s all that matters.”
