Andi Weimann has put pen to paper on a new contract at Ashton Gate.
The 29-year-old has now agreed terms on a three-year contract in BS3, keeping him in City colours until summer 2024.
Weimann unfortunately missed the majority of the 2020/21 campaign following an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his knee, but now back to full fitness, manager Nigel Pearson is thrilled to have the attacker commit his future to the club.
“We are delighted Andi has signed a new deal, especially as there was interest from other clubs,” the City manager said.
“He was unfortunate to sustain such a significant injury last season, but he has worked extremely hard on his rehab to get back to full fitness and he deserves this.
“He is an experienced professional, we know what he offers to the team and his aggressive, dynamic style of play is exactly what I want in players. I am looking forward to working with him again."
Since signing for the Robins in 2018, Weimann has featured 101 times in all competitions, netting 21 goals.
The Austrian signed for Aston Villa at the age of 16 from Rapid Vienna, where he successfully progressed through the club’s ranks and was handed his full league debut in 2010.
The pacey forward then went on loan to Watford in 2011 before returning to Villa Park, where he became a regular.
After eight years with the Midlands club, the Austrian joined nearby Derby County.
Following his first campaign with the Rams, appearances were restricted in the 2016/17 season, which triggered a temporary switch to Wolves.
Upon his return to Pride Park, Weimann made 43 appearances, predominantly in a wide position, where he scored five goals.
