Weimann enjoying life in BS3

Andreas Weimann says he has enjoyed his first few days as a City player.

The 26-year-old forward was the club’s fourth summer signing, having completed a switch from rivals Derby County earlier this week.

Having met his teammates and become accustomed with his new surroundings, the Austrian forward had nothing but good words to say after his opening days of pre-season.

“It’s been a good first few days,” he said. “I’ve really enjoyed it.

“The training is good and to a high standard and all the boys are making me feel really welcome.

“Everyone says pre-season is tough and we had another hard session today, but it will get us ready for the season and I don’t mind the running!

“We all want to start playing games now. Pre-season is okay but you want the games to start and the boys are looking forward to that.”

Weimann could be involved in his first outing this Sunday (July 8th, 2pm), when Lee Johnson’s squad travel to take on Bitton AFC in the club’s annual Community Match – an occasion the new recruit is looking forward to.

“Community is big for me,” he continued. “It’s a great event for the fans and the city, while giving us as players the chance to merge with everyone and give something back.

“It puts the club in a good light as well so I am looking forward to it.”

Over 1,200 tickets have already been sold for the friendly at Bitton’s WDS Associates Legal Services Stadium (BS30 6HX).

Tickets have been priced at adults £7 and under-16s £4, with the capacity capped at 2,000.

Supporters are encouraged to pre-book their tickets to avoid disappointment.
