New recruit Adam Webster is looking forward to being involved in Sunday’s Community Match with local club Bitton AFC.
Giving back to others is a priority for the 23-year-old defender, who put pen to paper on a three-year deal in BS3 last week after agreeing a move from Ipswich Town.
City’s annual pre-season fixture takes place this Sunday (July 8th, 2pm kick-off), with Dan Langdon’s Tons hosting the friendly.
All proceeds raised on the day will be split to support the work of the Bristol City Community Trust and Bitton.
“I’ve been welcomed really well and training has been enjoyable so it’s been a good start,” said Webster. “I’m now looking forward to the Community Match on Sunday.”
He added: “[Community values] are massive. This club does a lot of community work which is great and anything we can do to give back to others can only be a good thing.”
Webster also spoke to bcfc.co.uk about pre-season itself, with all the players now getting back to work on the training pitch, as well as preparing for more upcoming friendlies before the start of the 2018/19 campaign.
Webster said: “It’s always difficult at the beginning in pre-season. But the lads are in good shape, we look after ourselves over the off-season so we don’t need to do too many stupid runs.
“Nobody really likes pre-season but it’s good running before the season starts in August. The games will come thick and fast then and we all look forward to that!”
Over 1,200 tickets have already been sold for the friendly at Bitton’s WDS Associates Legal Services Stadium (BS30 6HX).
Tickets have been priced at adults £7 and under-16s £4, with the capacity capped at 2,000.
Supporters are encouraged to pre-book their tickets to avoid disappointment.
City’s 2018/19 Sky Bet Championship season kicks-off when they host Nottingham Forest on Saturday, August 4th.
