Webster arrives in BS3

City have completed the signing of defender Adam Webster.

The 23-year-old joins from Championship rivals Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee.

Webster has agreed a four-year contract at Ashton Gate, becoming the club’s second signing of the summer window.

“I am delighted to get this deal done,” Lee Johnson told bcfc.co.uk.

“We strongly believe in Adam’s ability and he is a player we have been tracking for a long time.

“He has proved himself as a top Championship defender and I look forward to seeing him play alongside our current centre-halves.

“He comes with real quality on the ball and we believe we can be the vehicle for him to go to the very top, hopefully with us, Bristol City.”

During a five-year stint at Portsmouth, Webster featured 81 times for the south coast side, having made his debut as a teenager in 2012.

He also spent time on loan at Aldershot, before making a permanent move to the Tractor Boys in June 2016, where he made 53 appearances.
