Bristol City Women defender Loren Dykes says the team are ready to bounce back from the defeat last weekend, ahead of the first home game of the season against Yeovil on Saturday (5.30pm kick-off).
The City Women vice-captain is keen for the squad to use familiar surroundings and home support to their advantage this weekend.
The Welsh international also reiterates the potential of the squad, insisting the style of play that the Vixens employ will cause teams problems this season.
She said: “It always going to be a tough opener, playing the Spring Series champions at their new stadium in front of the BBC Sport cameras, they were coming into the game on a high after a strong pre-season.
“Their resources are far superior to ours and it showed in parts.
“On the flipside, I think there are definite positives to take from the game. We went to Kingsmeadow and we tried to play our brand of football, so I am proud of the team for that.
“We have some great young players who have a lot of potential to do some damage this season and hopefully we can start this weekend and put in a strong performance.”
Bristol City Women achieved one of the highest attendance averages during the Spring Series and the 29 year old hopes the fans can turn out in numbers once again.
Dykes added: “We can’t wait to get out at the Stoke Gifford Stadium once again.
“The fans give us such a boost on match day, I can’t wait to hear them cheering us on again on Saturday.”
