Bristol City Women centre-back Meaghan Sergeant insists the playing group are determined to put in a strong performance this weekend as they travel away to face Arsenal on Sunday (12:30pm).
The Robins travel to Meadow Park off the back of two heavy defeats against Arsenal and Manchester City, and Sergeant believes her side must cut out the individuals errors, which have been punished by opponents in recent weeks.
“It’s been a tough run for us and it’s been hard for the group, but when you look at the majority of the goals we have conceded they have either been from long range or from our own mistakes.
“We know we’ve got to cut those mistake out and as a group we know we’re better than what we have shown over the last few games, so we’ve stuck together and we’re wanting to put in a better performance this weekend.
“We want to show the we’re better than our last couple of results and this game is a team sport, not an individual one, so we have got to stay as group and work hard for one another to put in an improved performance.
“We need to look at the game against Reading for our platform to build on, because we did what we set out to do and didn’t go too far away from the game plan and we managed to pick up a result, we’ve just got to make sure we get ourselves in to the game on Sunday.
“You can’t switch off at all when you face a team like Arsenal and we have learnt that the hard way. They’re a very good team and they punish you for any lapse in concentration."
