City Women boss insists her team are ready for their season opener and beginning their season in front of a big crowd has ‘added incentive’ for the players to kickstart their season with a victory.
“I think we’re raring for the season to get going and playing at Ashton Gate has added incentive, so we’re in a really good place and really looking forward to it, said Oxtoby.
“The players are buzzing, all of the feedback on social media has been great so we would love to get a big crowd down there and kick start the season with a good performance.
“The league’s growing and all the other teams have strengthened but we have as well, so we're putting in the hard work now to make sure we're ready to go for the start of the season.
“We’re in a great place. I think all the players have bought into what we’re trying to do and it's really exciting times.”
“The league’s growing and all the other teams have strengthened but we have as well, so we're putting in the hard work now to make sure we're ready to go for the start of the season."
The season opener will be City Women’s first appearance at Ashton Gate since 2017, and Oxtoby is hopeful the squad’s new signings can help the Robins get off to the perfect start.
“Our recruitment has been good and we’ve got a couple more to come in, so from our perspective, we're in a great position. We kept the core of the squad together, so we're building on what we had last year instead of starting from scratch.
“The first game will dictate where we’re at, but from our perspective, we’re in a much better position than we were last year."
Bristol City Women will take on Brighton & Hove Albion at Ashton Gate Stadium on Saturday, September 7th (3pm) and tickets are available here.
