We Needed More Bite - Johnson

Lee Johnson said his players needed to do more to unsettle the opposition after Fulham ran out 2-0 winners at Ashton Gate.

The visitors enjoyed the majority of possession and scored a goal in each half – Lucas Piazon in the first and Tom Cairney in the second – to end a sequence of three successive defeats to City.
But the performance of his side left Johnson ruing a lack of energy in closing people down.
“We were just too far off them – that was the bit that was frustrating,” the head coach told Bristol City Player HD.
“I understand the fans’ frustration because the players and myself are the same.
“We’ve got to find a way – particularly at home – of getting in people’s faces.
“Not at any point do we say ‘let’s sit deep and let people play’. Sometimes you have to respect that they got into little pockets and kept the ball moving.
“In the first half, although we were down on possession, opportunities were probably even.
“The fans were obviously disappointed at half-time but we tried to give it an injection of energy, because that was lacking – the bite to get close to somebody.
“It gives me a very simple team selection for Saturday because we need that bite in midfield."
