Steve Cotterill wants to see a better performance from his players than the last time they tackled Scunthorpe United.
Second-half goals from Aden Flint and Greg Cunningham gave City a 2-0 victory over newly-promoted Scunny back in September.
However, Cotterill says his players weren’t at their best that day, despite a three-point haul that became systematic of their early season form.
“Scunthorpe were decent in their first game against us,” Cotterill recalled on Bristol City Player.
“I don’t think that we played particularly well that day. We’ll need to play better this weekend – but we can do that.”
Russ Wilcox was in charge at Ashton Gate but he has since been replaced by Mark Robins, the one-time City loan striker.
“Mark (Robins, Scunthorpe manager) will take credit for playing better than [in the early season], but at the same time I think there’s an adjustment time needed for teams that get promoted,” added Cotterill.
“I think it can take teams 12-15 games to adjust. I don’t want to put down what Russ did before Mark, I wouldn’t do that.
“Both of them have done good jobs. Mark did well at Rotherham, Coventry and Barnsley; he’s one of the game’s good guys and I’m looking forward to seeing him.”
Aaron Wilbraham and Kieran Agard are “getting closer” to a return following hip and ankle injuries respectively.
New recruits George Saville and James Tavernier are available for selection.
