Tanya Oxtoby has challenged her side to tighten up defensively and find their clinical edge in the final third as City Women prepare to take on Manchester United on Sunday (12 pm KO
“We’ve got to stick together. We’ve been in this position before, we’re one point away from where we were this time last year, so we know what it takes.
“The only thing that is going to get us to where we need to be is sticking together as a group and working really hard on the areas we need to improve on.
“Both boxes need improvement for me. The goals we have conceded have been really soft in transition, so we need to make sure tighten up there. We’ve also had opportunities in the attacking third as well, but we have been as patient and clinical as we have needed to be.
“It’s the decision making on the pitch of when to apply the principles and who is applying them. All while being under pressure, that’s something a young group needs to learn and experience in games like this is going to give them that.
“We’ve put in the hard work on the training pitch this week and got to grips with the understanding of what we want to do, now we just need to go out and execute that on Sunday.”
