Tomas Kalas believes the squad have to keep powering through and work hard if they are to turn their fortunes around, starting with Tuesday's trip to face Middlesbrough.
The captain is determined to compete and help City's fight to improve results and he says the belief is still there; it is up to the players to see it in themselves.
When asked what needs to happen heading into Tuesday's clash with Boro, Kalas said: "The right belief from every player, take responsibility, take it and put pressure on yourself, not in the way it will hold you back but go for it. We need the points because this is the first time in my career I’m starting to look at the teams behind us rather than the team in front."
Kalas was speaking after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Barnsley where it looked as though the Robins might have done enough to earn a draw before Carlton Morris' close-range strike.
But hard work and self-criticism is needed, the defender told Robins TV, as City look again to end their run of defeats by heading to the Riverside where they have won on their previous two journeys.
Kalas said: "This is new for me but personally I’m going into every game that we can win it and so is everyone else. But we have to take responsibility, criticise ourselves when we take a bad touch or misplace a pass and try to improve it during the game, during training and keep working hard. That’s how you get out of this situation."
Boro v City will be streamed live on Robins TV with the Matchday Show starting at 6.30pm.
The Matthew Bromley memorial basketball games will take place from 4pm on Saturday, May 28th at the SGS College Arena.
