'We have to be honest with each other’ – Rowe

Reflection has been key to preparation as City go in search of putting recent defeats behind them ahead of their pre-Christmas trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

The Robins head to Hillsborough on Sunday (December 22nd, 12pm KO) after what will be eight days of rest, recovery and match planning.

Lee Johnson’s men are key to put things right after successive losses to Millwall and Blackburn Rovers at home.

“It’s been a good start to the week with the way we have attacked the sessions,” Tommy Rowe said. “What we want to focus on is how we can come back from defeat. Unfortunately for us as a group we have suffered back-to-back at home which is the worst we could do for ourselves and the fans.

“It was tough, it’s a time for reflection and to be honest with each other, look and see where we can improve. I think that’s been the foundation of the week as we move towards the [Sheffield Wednesday] game and we will work on the details to put it right.

“The loss is something the fans feel, one we feel too so we’re going to go about our work very diligently to put things right. It’s small details, we knew that from the outset, particularly against Blackburn they were getting the one per cents correct and we were getting the basics wrong.

“We will look to set the tone in training. When we’ve bounced back really well, we’ve always responded well in training and we’ve taken that into this week.”

Rowe now wants to see a performance from the squad, to give the side the best chance of coming away from Yorkshire an early Christmas present in the form of three points.

The left-back continued: “Our focus is on performing. We find when we perform, the majority of times we get the right result. The fans want to see a performance, we win well when we’re playing well and we will go out there to put on a performance, to get the three points, because ultimately we’ve done so well so for long and it would be a shame to let that slip.”
