🎥 'We deserved to win' - Martin

Chris Martin reflects on his Severnside derby brace as the Robins beat the Bluebirds 3-2 in front of an electric crowd at Ashton Gate.

Cardiff took the lead in the 31st minute when James Collins got ahead of the City defence to steer home Tommy Doyle's inviting cross.

The Robins were level two minutes later when Chris Martin curled an exquisite shot in the far corner from the edge of the area.

Just after the hour-mark City's No 9 was on hand again as he put the home side in the lead when his powerful strike hit the back of the net, leaving Alex Smithies helpless in the Cardiff goal.

Andreas Weimann then made it 3-1 when he slotted the ball into the bottom corner after some great build up play by Antoine Semenyo, before Cardiff pulled one back late on through Max Watters but City held on to claim all three points.

Speaking to Robins TV, Martin said: "I'm delighted for the lads and for the fans, it turned out to be a great occasion today.

"It was a spicy atmosphere and a very competitive game but one I thought we deserved to win and could've scored more goals.

On his first goal, Martin added: "As soon as I hit it I could see it the ball curling into the far corner so it was nice to hit back straight away."
