We deserved the win - Djuric

A buoyant Milan Djuric says City were deserved winners after their 2-1 victory at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Bobby Reid had nodded City ahead, before Sunderland's Lewis Grabban scrambled an equaliser on the stroke of half time.

But Djuric rose highest to convert a Callum O'Dwoda cross in the second half, as Lee Johnson's squad celebrated a win on their first trip to Sunderland for 18 years.

Speaking after the game, match-winner Djuric told BCTV: "It feels very good. This was a massive win for us; we believe in this win and I think we deserved it and we're all very happy about it.

"It was a fantastic ball from Callum. The delivery was very good for me and I struck the ball with my head, scored and this was a fantastic sensation. I'm very happy about it because this goals means three points. It was perfect.

"The windy conditions made it difficult for everyone. When the goalkeepers plays a long ball, sometimes it goes long, sometimes it goes short, so this is very difficult to play in, but we won and it's fantastic.

"I think it was a difficult game. We started well but we conceded at the end of the first half and it was a difficult finish, but we started the second period very well and I think we deserved this win."

City travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Tuesday night (7.45pm) as their Sky Bet Championship campaign continues.

Djuric said: "Tuesday is a good opportunity for us. We need to win all of our matches and I think this year we are ready to stay in the top six in the league. It's another big game for us and we want the three points."

And the Bosnian international is relishing the opportunity to take on Premier League giants Manchester United at the Gate in December - the one team he hoped City would be drawn against in the Carabao Cup.

"I think it's incredible because for me to play against Manchester United is a fantastic experience and Ashton Gate is nice to play at so it's our opportunity to go into the next round," he said.
