We can't wait for the second half of the season - Kirk

Bristol City Women head coach Willie Kirk says he left the Midlands a frustrated man after his side slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Birmingham City.

The Vixens now have seven points from seven games and Kirk believes his team are where they should be at this point.

The City Women manager is looking for his side to bounce back in the next block of games, beginning with Liverpool on Saturday, January 27th in Widnes.

He said: "I don't think either side played to their full potential on Sunday, it was a typical mid-table clash with chances for both sides and they took theirs when they came.

"The penalty was awarded and the game changed from there. I'm not going to comment on that as we can only control what we can control.

"We are where I expected us to be at this point, we need to be more consistent and be more professional in the way we react to things at times, but on the whole, I am fairly satisfied with the season so far and I'm looking forward to the run of games that we have coming up after the current international window.

"I feel that a number of these can be winnable, so I am looking for some big performances from the squad."

Two new faces have arrived so far during this transfer window and the City Women head coach says business is done for this window.

Kirk added: I"'m delighted to be able to bring Kylie and Millie in, aside from contract negotiations with the current squad, that will be it for this window until the summer. We are always looking to improve and add to the squad, when the right fit comes along I will act accordingly."

City Women host Sunderland on Saturday, February 10th at the Stoke Gifford Stadium. Tickets are available here.
