We are learning all the time - Matthews

Bristol City Women central-defender Jasmine Matthews says the squad are in good spirits heading into the second-half of the season.

The Vixens now have seven points from seven games and Matthews believes the team are showing many positive signs and are learning from every game.

The season will intensify over the coming months, with league and FA Cup action, starting with a trip to Liverpool on Saturday, January 27th.

She said: "The squad are in good spirits. Sunday was a disappointing result, but we have looked at it and we know where to improve moving forward.

"This season we have put in some brilliant and also some poor performances, but that's part of parcel of learning life in this league. We are looking to add more consistency to our game heading into 2018.

"With the current international window, it's good to give the body a rest and re-focus the mind. Those of us who are still in are training hard and maintaining the standards ready for the internationals to join us next week."

The centre-half has made a return from injury this season, putting in some strong performances and featuring in many of City Women's games.

Matthews added: "It feels good to put a consistent run of games together, the Spring Series was tough with injury, but I feel as though I'm in good form of late and I'm looking forward to building on that for the rest of the season."

The Vixens welcome Sunderland on Saturday, February 10th. Tickets are available here.
