Bristol City Women midfielder Carla Humphrey says the team are keen to continue their good form this weekend, after Saturday’s derby day victory over Yeovil Town Ladies.
The Vixens face Arsenal Women this Sunday (kick-off 12.30pm).
The game will be streamed live via the BBC red button and there will be live updates on the BBC Sport website.
Humphrey, 20, is no stranger to the weekend’s opposition, having joined City Women from Arsenal during the summer. The creative midfielder joined the London club in 2006, graduating through the ranks.
The England age-grade player spent part of the 2016/17 season on loan at Doncaster Belles, before making the permanent switch to the Vixens after 11 years at Arsenal.
Speaking ahead of the trip to the capital, Humphrey knows only too well the threat that the Gunners will bring this weekend.
She said: “Having been in the environment and having played with most of the girls, I am fully aware just how tough a test this weekend will be.
“There is quality across the squad and they pose threats from all over the pitch, so we will have to be wary of that.
“We have trained well this week, the squad is high on confidence going into this game and as always we are going there to get a result. If we do our basics right and get at them from the first whistle, there is no reason why we can’t leave with something.”
Humphrey says friendships will have to be put on hold for 90 minutes on Sunday: “I am still in touch with a lot of the girls and talk to them regularly.
“However, I am a City Women player now and on Sunday I am going to give my all for the shirt, as I always do.”
