We Appreciate Frank - Smith

Korey Smith praised Frank Fielding’s recent contribution after his latest shutout against Bolton Wanderers last Saturday.

City’s stopper saved Shola Ameobi’s second-half penalty as Steve Cotterill’s side earned a point in a goalless draw at the Macron Stadium.

It was Fielding’s fourth clean sheet in six matches and Smith feels the goalkeeper has had a big impact over that period.

“I’m very happy Frank saved the penalty – it was a great save,” the midfielder told Bristol City Player HD.

“He works extremely hard everyday and we’ve (the squad) kept four clean sheets in six games which is a really good base to build from.

“Frank’s been a part of that and we appreciate him. Hopefully we’ll keep the clean sheets coming and one will go in for us at the other end in the next game.”

After the international break, City take on Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship, a match that will be screened live on Sky Sports (12.30pm).

The Tigers hold the best defensive record in the division as well as the second-best goalscoring tally, but Smith is adamant City’s focus will remain on themselves.

He said: “We’ve been playing really well and we’ve adapted to how we want to play in this league.

“We’ve moved up another place so we can enjoy our time off and prepare for Hull.”
