Watch: Richard Gould's first interview

New Bristol City CEO Richard Gould believes City are on track with their recruitment ahead of the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship season.

In a Robins TV interview – his first since re-joining the club where he was Commercial Director between 2001 and 2005 – Gould thanks the 12,500-plus 2021/22 Season Card holders for their commitment, reflects on the post-Covid financial hangover that will affect football, and updates on the transfer situation.

Manager Nigel Pearson has identified five positions he wants to fill and Gould said: “That’s a very realistic target. It depends at what costs those come in at. We have budgets that we want to hold to. We are very fortunate with the support we have got from the chairman and the owner and we just want to make sure that every pound is really well spent and every pound gets on the pitch and has a positive impact in us winning games – and that’s where the juggling goes on.

“We are on track. We always want to assemble the very best squad we can and that takes a lot of work, recruitment effort, analysis, subjective thought – everyone’s got their own opinions – which is the beauty of our game, and all those opinions are welcome – but in the end Nigel will be, and has been extremely clear, on what he wants and needs, and we are trying to deliver that.”

Supporters will also be able to see Gould live at Thursday’s 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship fixture release.

Fans can receive instant reaction from inside the City camp with a full livestream of the exclusive Lansdown Club member event at Ashton Gate broadcast for free on Robins TV.

Gould will be joined by Chairman Jon Lansdown and goalkeeper Dan Bentley to discussing the fixtures and plans for next season along with a Q&A session.

Supporters can tune in to Robins TV from 8:45am to watch the livestream with the opportunity to submit questions to the panel via the club’s Twitter feed.

To access the stream, log in to Robins TV with your Bristol Sport account. Once the livestream has concluded, supporters can watch it back on the official website and  App, with the club’s full fixture list available to view on those platforms from 9am.
