Zak Vyner has already come toe-to-toe with Premier League opposition in Claret and Blue – and is excited to be doing it again tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm).
The Academy graduate made 17 appearances for Accrington Stanley during a loan spell in the first half of this season.
One of those outings came away at West Ham United in the EFL Cup, a match the defender’s loan club lost by a single goal to nil.
Vyner found himself lining up against the likes of Dimitri Payet, Michail Antonio, Manuel Lanzini and Simone Zaza, amongst others.
And he told Bristol City Player HD: “I had a taste of playing against Premier League opposition at Accrington and I can’t wait for another chance now.
“We put on a decent performance against West Ham, and it was a tremendous experience for me playing in front of all those supporters – the atmosphere was incredible.
“We ran West Ham very close and if Accrington can do that, why can’t we go to Burnley and cause an upset?
“If we can get a result on Saturday then hopefully it can push us on in the league.”
Reflecting on his loan move to Lancashire, Vyner added: “It was a different challenge in League Two. The football was slower but a lot more physical. I thought I adapted well to the test.
“I played all my games at right-back for Accrington, which is also where I made my debut for City. I can play at centre-back or right-back and it’s good to have that versatility.
“It was a great experience at Accrington but I’m delighted to be back and now I hope I can challenge for a place in the first team.
“I know it’s down to me to take my chance when it comes along and I want to do myself justice now.”
The match is all-ticket for visiting supporters.
Bristol Bears recorded a bonus point win on the road as Siva Naulago scored a stunning hat-trick on Saturday evening.
