Luke Freeman is delighted with the chance to play Sky Bet Championship football for the first time.
The midfielder made the most assists in League One last season, and was selected in the league’s team of the year.
Prior to his arrival at City, Freeman spent the four years previous in the division with Stevenage and Yeovil Town, and is excited by the opportunity that awaits.
“It’s something I’m really looking forward to,” he told Bristol City Player HD.
“I played in League One for the last five years for my development so it’s a step up for me.”
Freeman was also nominated for the Football League One player of the year for his performances in the 2014/15 campaign. However, the 23-year-old is more concerned with how well the team performs rather than individual form.
He said: “Of course, I’d like to maintain my performances and take them to the next level, but the first thing is team performances.
“As a team if we play well and pick up points, that’s more important.
“If you can put together a personal performance as well it’s another bonus.”
Freeman added: “We’re just concentrating on working hard and planning for the first game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday.”
