Video: Burns Ready To Take His Chance

Wes Burns will look to use last year’s loans to make strides as a Bristol City player.

The 20-year-old made six appearances for City last season, but spent the majority of the campaign out on loan at Oxford United and Cheltenham Town.

Burns is keen to take his loan experience into the Sky Bet Championship.

“I enjoyed playing football at Oxford and Cheltenham,” he told Bristol City Player HD.

“It was good to get game time - I think I played 25 to 30 games which is good for my experience. I scored a few which is good for my confidence as well.

"It’s all a learning curve for me and hopefully I can bring what i learned last season into this.”

Burns is one of three senior forwards in the squad alongside Aaron Wilbraham and Kieran Agard.

With the latter injured and out of the opener at Sheffield Wednesday (August 8th), the Wales under-21 international is motivated to work hard in pre-season and make a spot in Steve Cotterill’s line-up his own.

He said: “With Kieran Agard being out at the moment there is an incentive for me to take that position (up front).

“From day one (of pre-season) I’ve been trying to make an impression with the running and the football.

I haven’t spoken to the gaffer about what he has in line for me this season, but I’m just here to work hard and if I can fight my way into the team then ill do so.”
