Bristol City Community Trust has recently been awarded funding through Sport England and Bristol Sport Foundation to help support males with a BMI of 27+ to lose weight.
The new initiative, called Kickin2shape, will see participants receive weekly nutritional advice before engaging in an hour-long practical session of walking football or football, all of which is free of charge.
The funding has been provided for two years, allowing three courses to be delivered at South Bristol Sports Centre and Parish Wharf Leisure Centre each year.
With 20 spaces available at both venues, it’s a great opportunity for men across the city who are motivated to improve their health and wellbeing in a professional but enjoyable environment.
Sessions at South Bristol Sports Centre got under way this week, with 18 in attendance, while the Parish Warf programme - delivered alongside Let’s Do project - kicks-off tomorrow (Friday).
Meanwhile, the Trust are also working in partnership with Bristol City Council who have self-funded a similar programme at KnowleDGE, which commences on Wednesday, November 1st (7pm).
For more information on the KnowleDGE course, contact Lee Gillett on 07855 0178 318 or email lgsportscoaching@yahoo.com.
Alternatively, contact geoff.stevens@bcfc.co.uk if you are interested in attending the sessions at South Bristol Sports Centre or Parish Wharf.
