Trio Sign For Bristol Academy

Bristol Academy’s first team Manager, Dave Edmondson has completed the signings of Hayley Ladd, Sharla Passariello and Nadia Lawrence. 

So far during the break, the club has seen the exit of Yorston, Rose, Natalia, Del Rio and Harding. However, looking forward to 2015 Edmondson is pleased with the way the squad is shaping up with the additions of Hayley Ladd, Sharla Passariello and Nadia Lawrence.

Hayley Ladd joins the club from English Premier League side Coventry City where she has played for the past three years. Prior to this Hayley played at Arsenal from 2009 until 2012. At only 21, Hayley has been a regular feature within the Welsh team and has 25 caps for her Country.

On signing Hayley, Edmondson said “She is an experienced international with real quality as well as versatility. She is a winner, with a bite and determination that I am looking to make a characteristic of the team this year”.

Some around the club may recognise the name Sharla Passariello. Sharla started her football career at the Bristol Academy Centre of Excellence before going on to play for the first team at the age of 16 under the management of Mark Sampson.

The striker played for Bristol Academy and studied at the college until the age of 18 when she moved to the USA to play for the University of South Florida, in which she has spent four years playing in Division 1 of the American Athletic Conference. She has now moved back to the UK returning to her roots at BAWFC, and is looking forward to her career in the WSL.

Dave said “Sharla is a product of BAWFC and is returning to the club following a successful stint at South Florida University. She is a strong and powerful striker who will add another dimension to our play.”

Pleased about her decision Sharla said “I am looking forward to being involved with the team this season as Bristol Academy has always had a great character as a club and great talent. It’s always been a special club to me and I hope I can contribute positively”.

The third of the triple signing introduces Nadia Lawrence to the Vixens. Nadia another Welsh International joins the club from Icelandic team, IBV Vestmannaeyjar, of which she played for two years; the attacking player is now looking to put her stamp on the WSL as a Vixen.

“Whilst I enjoyed my time in Iceland and was considering going back for a third season, the opportunity to go to Bristol was one I had to take, given the coaching, players and standard. I look forward to working hard here.” Nadia declared.

The manager said “Nadia is an ambitious and determined player with good technical ability and a real desire to improve herself as a player. Having played in Iceland, she will bring further international experience to the squad”.
