Bristol Academy have signed their fourth player of the transfer window, with Lauren Townsend joining the Vixens from Premier League side Cardiff City Ladies.
Edmondson secures the new signing with seven weeks until the first tie of the UEFA Women’s Champions league quarter final against Frankfurt.
The defender has played at Cardiff City Ladies for the past seven years, gaining nineteen U19 and fourteen senior caps so far for her country.
Dave Edmondson said “Lauren is a good technical player who can offer an attacking threat from defence. Her ability and attitude has thoroughly impressed us in training. She is a strong addition to the team, one I am looking forward to working with over the season. ”
Townsend said “I’d like to say a massive thank you to Cardiff, who are a fantastic club and have been such a big part of my development as a person and player over the last 7 years. I will miss the staff, coaches and players where I have made so many good friends and would like to wish them the best of luck for the remainder of the season.
“However, I am really excited to sign for Bristol Academy. The opportunity to play here was something I couldn’t turn down. Bristol have a fantastic set up and I am really looking forward to the new challenge and season ahead."
