Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson says there is a buzz amongst the playing squad following the signing of Lee Tomlin on a permanent deal.
The attacker penned a three-year deal to complete an undisclosed fee switch from AFC Bournemouth yesterday.
Initially undergoing a stringent medical at Failand on Monday, there was then an agonising wait for the club and fans alike as finer details of the deal were thrashed out.
With the i’s finally dotted and the t’s crossed on the paperwork, Tomlin’s return was announced last night – and immediately those City players on social media took to Twitter to welcome him home.
“Good to have you back,” said goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell, while Aden Flint told the world he was “buzzing to have [Tomlin] back in my life”.
Bristol pair Joe Bryan and Wesley Burns were others to express their delight at the Leicester-born frontman’s return to BS3.
Johnson earlier told Bristol City Player HD: “It’s not just supporters, the players get a boost as well.
“When I walked through the canteen with him at Failand, all the players saw him and were cheering.
“They do it because of the character he is around the place; they all love him. He’s an outstanding footballer and creates that buzz.”
As for Tomlin, as the celebrations surrounding his announcement were abating amongst supporters, he opted to chill with club captain Aaron Wilbraham in the cinema.
Now You See Me 2 was the ironic choice at the flicks.
Tomlin’s first game back in a City shirt is set to be at Hengrove Athletic this Sunday (kick-off 2pm), with tickets still available by clicking here.
