Gary Probert was pleased with the Robins’ patience to breakdown a resilient Lewes and secure a spot in the FA Continental Cup quarter-finals.
“We’re happy. We spoke to the girls before the game and said make sure you get yourselves through to the quarter-finals and they’ve done that.
“We were positive in the first half and scored three goals, three different types of goals and we played at a good intensity.
“I think we were a little bit frustrated in the second half and to give away a goal at set-piece which was frustrating. Credit to Lews they came and had a go in the second half.
“I don’t know what the average age was at the end there, we managed to get all the young academy girls on in the second half, so the game served real purpose for the club on the whole.
“We talked to the girls about patience and that it could have taken an hour to break down Lewes.
“We’ve got to respect the opposition when it comes to these types of games, we have to work hard and play properly and once the door opened, we managed to get a few goals which was pleasing.
“We spoke about confidence before the game. It’s so hard to get in football and can be so easy to break, and we wanted to try and build on some of the good work we did on Saturday.
“We didn’t want to change too many things coming into this game, we wanted to respect the competition and opposition, and use the last two games to help us move towards where we want to be.”
