🎥 ‘The result is never a given’ – James

Matty James says the form card can be disregarded this weekend, while City look to get back to winning ways with a trip to Peterborough United (October 2nd, 3pm).

The newly-promoted Posh are adapting to Championship life, having endured six defeats, two wins and two draws to date.

James had helped the Robins go five games unbeaten prior to Wednesday night’s narrow defeat to Millwall, settled only by a Jed Wallace penalty.

Now it is about how the team respond after that loss, but they are not expecting it to be easy against Darren Ferguson’s side who sit in the lower depths of the division at this early stage.

“We were on a decent run of form so we go again to Peterborough, which is a tough place to go, and the Championship is relentless in that way,” James told Robins TV. “I think we’ll regroup, take the positives from the Millwall game and go there for the three points on Saturday.

“You can look at form as much as you want really but if you go into a game expecting a win or a result then it generally goes against you. We’ll prepare for the game; we’ll know their strengths and hopefully exploit their weakness. We go there with the respect they deserve and hopefully we can come out of the game with the three points.”

City will be backed by more than 1,100 away fans at the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday - something James is extremely appreciative of.

He continued: “Both the away and home fans have been fantastic this season, their support has been remarkable, and the players enjoy it. We didn’t get the result on Wednesday but a big thank you from us goes to them.”
