‘The players are giving everything’ – Fleming

Curtis Fleming was pleased to see City battle back against Fulham on Saturday, stressing the importance of giving their all in “an unforgiving league.”

Assistant Manager Fleming is currently taking charge of City’s preparations ahead of Millwall, while Manager Nigel Pearson is feeling unwell.

On Saturday we equalised through Kasey Palmer’s first goal of the season to earn the 1-1 draw, ahead of a busy week which sees City travel to Millwall (September 29th, 7.45pm) and Peterborough United (October 2nd 3pm).

When asked about collective spirit, Assistant Manager Fleming told Robins TV: “It has to be the essence of any team that wants to do well in the Championship where it’s an unforgiving league. You have to go for 96 minutes because you see how late goals are scored and conceded. Our guys have shown that they’re giving everything, the essence of football is to go to a game and see the guys give the whole lot and they can leave the game happy.

“We’re still building, we’re learning all the time as a squad and as a coaching team. This is a new season, you can learn from history but we don’t dwell on it too much, so it’s very important as a group we grow. Five games unbeaten now is fantastic, but wouldn’t it be great to get to ten or 15 games, and if we don’t then we start again.”

Fleming reflects on the team’s progress this season, the impact of George Tanner, the challenge of Millwall and more.
