Tanya Oxtoby has praised her side for executing the game plan to beat Birmingham City 1-0 at Solihull Moors and claim three vital points in the Barclays FAWSL.
The City Women boss has praised her side for executing the game plan to beat Birmingham City 1-0 at Solihull Moors and claim a vital three points in the Barclays FAWSL.
Ebony Salmon’s 75th-minute goal proved the difference between the two sides as the Robins lifted themselves off the foot of the Barclays FAWSL table to climb above Liverpool and Birmingham in to 10th.
“They executed the game plan to perfection really, it was quite an even contest with Birmingham having chances in the first half and we had ours in the second, and we were lucky enough to take one,” said Oxtoby.
“We knew bringing Ebony on would cause problems and she did exactly what we asked to get the result, so I’m really happy.
“It was a typical away from home performance, we sat in and absorbed the pressure and looked to counter, and we did that well."
“We were shaky at the start of the first half, but we adjusted a few things at half-time and we were much better in the second and we were never going to let go of that lead once we got it.
“This result is massive for the club when you look at the injury list, you look at where we’re at in terms of resources compared to others in the league.
“This is huge and lets not underestimate how much hard work has gone into a result like this because the players and staff deserve it as they work their butts off everyday, so I’m really pleased that they have got something positive to show for it today.
We spoke earlier on in the week about looking for a response from Monday and to be fair to them in training and the review I couldn’t ask for much more, we just lack a little consistently but his is hard to get when they’re so young and there are so many changes going on. We’re very happy to get the result today.”
