👏 Thank you for supporting the Ashton Gate Eight 40th Anniversary

From the visit to the Robins High Performance Centre, the dinner in their honour, the pitch parade with surfer flag and card mosaic, and all the messages of support, it was a fitting tribute to their selfless act.

Bristol City Chairman Jon Lansdown said: “We should always remember that the club is only here, in our current form, because of eight individuals who willingly tore up their contracts and sacrificed financial security to put our Club first.

“It was a privilege to welcome and meet members of the Ashton Gate Eight and their families throughout the weekend and to hear some of their fascinating stories.

“The weekend’s events to mark the 40th anniversary of their selfless action was particularly poignant. It saw the Club coming together in a unique fashion. I am greatly indebted to the leadership and efforts of Scott Davidson and to those of the many other supporters, volunteers, sponsors and club staff who contributed towards making this an occasion which will always be remembered.”
