Sammie Szmodics has joined Peterborough United on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.
The midfielder joined the Robins in the summer of 2019 from Colchester United and he became a popular figure in the squad. He went on to make four appearances in all competitions in the first half of the season, before he linked up with the Posh on loan.
He returned three goals and three assists at the Sky Bet League One side before the 2019/20 campaign was curtailed due to the impact of Covid-19.
The 24-year-old will now return to the Weston Homes Stadium and City Head Coach Dean Holden said: “Sammie has been an absolute joy to work with and we will miss him around the place. But I am pleased for him to get this move because he needs to play games at this stage in his career and I really hope it works out for him.”
The club would like to thank Sammie for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future.
