Sweeney of Ashton Gate Eight guests on Robins TV

Former City player Gerry Sweeney will appear live on Robins TV in the week of the 39th anniversary of the Ashton Gate Eight.

He was one of eight City players - each are acknowledged in this season's home shirt - who had to tear up their contracts to help the club survive amid financial crisis in 1982.

Promotion-winning Sweeney, who made 490 appearances between 1971-1982, will be a guest of the pre-match show this Saturday, ahead of kick-off between Bristol City and Cardiff City.

Rene Gilmartin will also be back on Robins TV offering his analysis throughout the game. He will be the guest on the 30 minute pre-match show before heading to the commentary box alongside Toby Osbourne.

Coverage of the fixture starts at at 2.30pm, costing £10.

As always, the programme will include multi-angle and multi-replay production, with commentary and analysis.
