Support Is So Important - Cotterill

Steve Cotterill has paid tribute to the massed ranks of supporters heading to West Brom tomorrow (3pm).

A total of 5,300 fans will pack out the Smethwick Road end, the club’s largest travelling support since the famous 1994 FA Cup victory at Liverpool.

It comes just a week after more than 3,200 City fans swelled the attendance at Reading in the club’s first match of 2016.

City manager Cotterill told Bristol City Player HD: “It’s amazing and the support at Reading last week was tremendous too.

“Their support means everything to me and it is very important for the players.”

He added: "I'm sure not every fan would be totally happy with me at the minute, because I'm in charge of their team and we are down the bottom of the league.

"But we would not get that many travelling if it was not for the fact they know we are going to play good football.

“We might make a mistake, we might get beat, but then again, we might win. The support they give the players is fantastic.”

City are sweating on the fitness of a number of players – Nathan Baker, Luke Freeman and Derrick Williams – going into tomorrow’s FA Cup third round tie.
