Support David Gibbs in his battle with brain cancer

Bristol City Season Card holder David Gibbs is crowdfunding for specialist treatment after being diagnosed with brain cancer.

Read David’s story (pictured below) through the words of his father-in-law and fellow Season Card holder Alan Quayle.

📖 DAVID’S STORY

“My name is Alan and I have been a Bristol City Season Card holder for longer than I can remember. I’m a regular in the Dolman Stand with my son Stuart, son-in-law Dave and friend Ben and we have been fans of City both home and away for all of our lives.

However, this is about my son-in-law Dave and his brave fight to beat a terrible disease.

Last year Dave was experiencing severe headaches for a couple of months before being diagnosed with brain cancer (Glioblastoma) in October, a diagnosis none of us expected. This is a grade IV aggressive brain tumour, and the outlook is poor, with the average survival time from diagnosis just 12-18 months. As you can imagine, our world has been turned upside down in the last three months. Dave is married to my daughter Gemma, and they have a beautiful three-year-old daughter.

There are specialist treatments available abroad that could change the outcome, but we desperately need help to cover the costs as unfortunately the treatment is not currently available on the NHS.

We know Bristol City fans look after their own so please support this very worthwhile cause if you can, and let’s keep Dave sat in the Dolman stand for a long time to come.

You can read the full story via the link below. Please donate if you can and/or share as far as possible.

Thank you.”

Collectors will be on site tomorrow at Ashton Gate to collect donations both outside the ground and in the concourse in the build up to kick-off.

A representative from the 'Dave's Brain Fund' group will also be speaking on the big screen at half-time.
